For a large mirror start around 12 inches a standard ruler and adjust from there.
How to hang a mirror on a wall with wire.
Determine the middle of the line you have made.
Then place marks to the left and right of this mark a distance that is equal to 1 4 of the total distance between the d rings.
Cut a piece of picture hanging wire with wire clippers that is twice that.
Hang a mirror using hooks step 1 hold the mirror in place close to eye level.
Cut four medium length lengths of wire.
Measure the width of the mirror and add 6 inches.
Hold the d rings over the pilot holes and secure them with small screws.
Then transfer that measurement to your markings on the wall so you know where to put the hanger.
Hold the mirror against the wall at the desired position.
This requires attaching d rings to the back perimeter of the mirror frame wrapping wire around the d ring and then attaching one or two hooks to the wall and hanging the mirror by the wire.
With the mirror propped against the wall or lying face down raise the wire up to make it taut and identify two points that will distribute the pressure equally across the wire.
Repeat for both spots where the wire connects with a d ring.
D rings and picture wire the mirror must have a frame around it to hang a mirror this way.
Mark the wall near the center of the top edge with a pencil or painter s tape.
You don t want them too close together.
Place a scrap piece of wood that is approximately half as long as the mirror is wide underneath the hanging wire on back of the frame.
Set the mirror down.
Use pieces of scrap wire to reinforce the hanging wire.
Place the level against the wall at the place you want to hang the mirror and make a line on the wall with a pencil all along the top of where the mirror top will be.
Wrap a length of scrap wire tightly around the hanging wire several times and crimping it closed with pliers securing it to one of the screw eyes.
Use a tape measure to measure the distance from the top of the mirror to the top of the piece of wood.
Measure the width of your mirror and mark a point in the middle of that line.
Take the wire in your picture and hold it taut from the center to measure the distance from the top of wire to the frame.
