Installing Humidifier In Attic

I have contacted several hvac companies and all have refused to install in the attic for fear of it freezing then leaking through the ceiling.

I live in charlotte north carolina where the practice of putting the heater in the attic is relatively common many of the big builders do this to save square footage since we don t have a basement. I m not sure what the real risk of freezing is in my situation or what other hazards come with an attic installation. The furnace is within a few feet of the hot water heater yes also in the attic so supplying hot water to the humidifier won t be an issue. I would like to receive a quote to install a whole home central humidifier on my existing hvac furnace system at my home. But there is no effective way to circulate the air between the attic and the remainder of the house. Most of the house is heated and cooled with a conventional gas fired furnace and air conditioning system. Any leak or malfunction in the pipes or humidifier could cause water to be released in the attic damaging. The attic will of course be subject to below freezing temperatures.
